The HikMicro Stellar SH50 thermal imaging rifle scope creates very clear
thermal images and bypasses otherwise obstructing factors such as
darkness, bad weather and poor visibility. Thermal differences are
registered by the 50 mm objective lens, interpreted and processed by the
384x288 thermal sensor and shown on the OLED display, in a resolution
of 1024x768 pixels, with a buttery smooth refresh rate of 50 frames per
second. All this counts for objects within the observation range of a
whopping 2600 metres.
The image can be shown in four different colour modes: Black Hot, White
Hot, Red Hot and Fusion. Besides this, the Picture-in-Picture mode shows
a magnified image in a separate window in the top of the display, and
video with audio and snapshots of the image can be recorded to the
internal memory of 64 GB. When the ‘Recoil-activation’ function is
active, video gets recorded automatically as soon as the device detects
recoil, and the Wi-Fi hotspot feature lets you share files and
livestream the image to your smartphone, but also update the device’s
firmware.
HikMicro put this high-tech system in a traditional looking exterior by
retaining the well-known rifle scope design, this enables users who
prefer this look to still utilise the outstanding features of this
thermal imaging rifle scope and also keep using the conventional
mounting system. The Stellar SH50 comes with two internal Lithium
batteries and a replaceable CR123A battery, these power sources provide
the user with 15 hours of use, which can be extended by replacing the
CR123A battery when it’s used up.
All of these features are protected by a sturdy aluminium housing with
IP67 waterproof rating, which means that the scope can be submerged for
up to one metre, for a maximum of one minute. This also gives the
internal components of the Stellar SH50 protection from 1000 g’s
(g-force) of recoil.
